Bobby the Horse - Sunday Funday!

My daughter's horse is quite the entertainer.  I couldn't resist filming him this past weekend as I turned him out for his exercise.  He was full of "piss & vinegar" as the old saying goes!  He held his tail high, cantered around the ring and kicked his heels up which caused a few healthy farts!

I'm such a kide, the word Fart always makes me laugh, just the name alone is enough to make anyone giggle!

Here is a link to the video.  I hope you enjoy his Sunday romp!

CVS Extra Care Loyalty Card

If you don't have a CVS Extra Care Loyalty card, what are you waiting for?  I don't shop there that regularly, but between the 3 members of my family, I am sure that someone may stop in from time to time.

Once a week or so you will get an email with specials, promotions and discounts.  The best part is that you don't have to print the coupon, you can just elect to have it sent to your card electronically. That way, any member of your family who is shopping will automatically benefit.  I love this option!

If you have prescriptions filled here, or if you already shop here, then you may already know that you can earn ExtraBucks rewards to use as cash on purchases.  I say sign up wherever possible and use the savings available to you. Sometimes it's just nice to use those free rewards, coupons and discounts for something fun, like nail polish, gifts for your kids or grandkids, or treats for your pet!

Zip Line in Big Bear

After my first and second experience Zip Lining on Catalina last year, I must confess that I am now addicted to this adrenaline rush! That is why I couldn't resist purchasing a "Deal of the Day" offer through my local newspaper, The OC Register. They offered a 9 Line Zip Tour with a Fun Suspension Bridge in Big Bear for only $48.00. This is an up to $95.00 value!

I bought three offers back in January, since my sister told me that if I ever saw any more zip offers that she wanted to go. Coordinating schedules is difficult for working people, but we decided a Friday would work best, and I reserved a date that I thought would put us past snow in Big Bear. It happened to land a week after one of their big snowfalls which actually worked out beautifully! There was just enough snow on the ground to create a gorgeous backdrop to the pines, mountains and rocks, but not so much that we needed chains or heavy mountain gear! Because we went up early on a Friday, we missed any heavy weekend traffic that would have started after working hours. It timed out perfectly. We had enough time to have a wonderful Mexican lunch at Hacienda Grill which was just up the street from Action Zipline Tours where our tour would start. Then we drove over to The Village and window shopped the quaint stores before heading back to begin our big adventure.
Actionziplinetours.com covered everything! After a short safety and instructional video, a van drove us up to the 9000' altitude point where we loaded into two Swiss Pinzgauer high mobility all-terrain vehicles. Even that ride set the tone for our next adventure as we twisted, turned and bounced on slick muddy mountain roads (more like paths) as we wove our way to the starting point.
Once we reached the first platform, we donned our harnesses, helmets and safety gloves and reviewed braking techniques.
Our warm-up was a suspension bridge. I ran across first to avoid any extra movement provided by the tour guides.

It was so exciting to experience high-speed runs while flying over the treetops. I even was brave enough to strike different poses or to let go completely!

I can't wait to return for another adventure. We were told that we could receive a 10% discount on our next booking if we just told them the date of our last reservation. I'm game! I might even try one of their Segway Tours. Oh, and they will sell you photos or the entire picture cd. As you can see, they take amazing pictures and these are just a small sampling of the many they took. They also do not allow you to take cameras or cell phones on your journey.

I would suggest visiting the following websites before you go to check for special events, discounts and dining tips. It will save you time and help you plan your trip.

Discounted Disney Tickets 2012

If you want to save some money on a trip to Disneyland, and don't mind going on a day that the park is overflowing with goth enthusiasts, then Bat Day is for you. This year's convention runs May 16-29, 2012, and you can buy group tickets at their rate by purchasing online through the previous link. Please keep in mind that the park is not reserved for this event, it is just an annual event opportunity for people to express themselves in the way they feel most comfortable, no matter how odd the rest of us might think it is. My sister accidently visited the park on this day a couple of years ago with her grandchildren, and they were terrified. But if you go, knowing in advance what to expect, you will just be able to enjoy your day and perhaps learn that underneath all that creative dressing is a person who also just wants to have fun!

A one day park hopper ticket normally costs $105.00, but through this link you can purchase them for $91.00. That's a 13% savings!

Other discounts available on the Disney Website include:

  • Souther California resident discount.  From now through June 1, 2012, buy a 2-Day, 1-Park per Day Disneyland Resort ticket for just $99 and pick which park you want to visit each day! The only drawback is you can only visit one park per day, you can't hop back and forth. You might also want to check which rides are closed for maintenance during this time period so that you are not dissappointed when you arrive.
  • Military Discount.  Buy a 3-Day Park Hopper ticket for just $99 each, through September 28, 2012. That's a savings of 55%* off the ticket booth price!
  • 3-Day Park Hopper tickets may be purchased at participating U.S. military sales outlets by any eligible U.S. military personnel or their spouse for just $99. There is a 6 ticket limit during any single week of the promotion. No more than 12 tickets may be purchased, activated and/or used by any eligible U.S. military personnel or spouse during the life of this promotion.

Craig's List. Check with companies that buy 2 & 3 day passes but sell them as individual tickets. It's worth a try, right?

To save more money on your visit, pack some food, water and snacks or take a cooler in your car and leave the park to have your own personal tailgate party. Who says a trip to the Magic Kingdom has to break the bank?!

LG Electronics Times Square Moment

In previous posts I mentioned that I had entered the LG Electronics "Time Square Moment" Contest. I ended up being one of the 10 who had their photo broadcast in Time's Square on New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, since I live on the west coast, I was never able to see it flash on the screen and I have been unable to find any pictures or videos of it. I would have loved to have been there to experience it in person and to hear the crowd's reaction. My daughter, on the other hand, who is pictured with the Naked Cowboy would have been mortified!

Here is my photo, and following it is the fb transcript announcing the winner.

Dayeanne with the Naked Cowboy, Times Square 8/16/07.

This is LG's post from facebook on January 7th, 2012.  I especially liked the battle of the words from the winner and the runner up accusing each other of cheating!

José Alberto Angeles Veloz Dixie, I think that's what you did. Because I saw like 3 times an increment of like 200 votes on your picture in matter of minutes. I worked too hard and it took me a lot of time trying to get all my friends to vote everyday for me. So look at yourself before you point out fingers. We can run the contest again and I can guarantee you a will beat your up again. Just check all the comments and the likes I also got there. If I really bough them I don't think they will bother leaving comments of liking the picture too!!! Thanks and Have a NICE one!!!

My Black Friday

I spent a relaxing Black Friday at home, doing laundry, putting away the last of my Thanksgiving dishes and shopping online. At Barnes & Noble I scored 30% off one item (I always check RetailMeNot.com for discounts) and by using my daughters membership received free shipping. I also bought some funky t-shirts at BustedTees.com and found a buy 2 get one free for Christmas code on their own website (I found a free shipping code from RetailMeNot). Bam, 3 more gifts, free shipping!

I did venture out at around 3 pm to do some regular shopping, and just in case I took my Target coupons with me. I bought myself a pj set on sale for $10.00, plus I had a $3.00 off coupon. Sold to the lady over fifty, for $7.00 dollars! I had other good coupons, but nothing I saw was interesting. Of course the cool offer was a $25.00 itunes card on sale for $20.00, but I realized too late that that was one of the doorbuster, get out of bed in the dark and go in your pajamas sale items. Oh well!!!

My day ended at Ralph's looking for their brand of soda water. Now there's where it looked like black friday! Big gaping holes on the shelves where product should be. I got the last litre bottle of club soda, and the last 3 bags of sugar free mint patties for my husband. With the candies, I got the last one in the display box then stood on my tipi-toes where I saw 2 more bags loose, way back on the shelf. I must have looked pretty silly standing on my toes, using the box as a grabber to pull the candy to where I could reach it!

Now I am home and I will set my alarm for bright and early Saturday morning. I will actually venture out to several stores to check out their sales. Big Lots has two cute, but poorly made, chairs that I would like. I hope to find some deals at Michael's so that I can earn a $25.00 credit on my American Express statement. If I spend exactly $25.00, it will all be free. I hope people like getting crafty stuff for Christmas! If I am still awake and not too tired, there is a As Seen On TV warehouse sale that should prove to be very interesting. If the prices are lower that what I have seen at Walmart, I will be  picking up some gifts there as well.

So, the shopping begins. Hopefully I will be done soon so that I can relax into the Holiday Season!

Making Music

There are so many interesting things out there that I learn about through facebook! This link was posted by one of my daughter's friends. I had no idea what it was, so I followed the link and was faced with a big dark grid. Play around, you will be amazed and will feel like a modern composer. Who thinks these wonderful things up?! Have fun.

Who doesn't love hitting a county fair every once in a while? Where else can you go to eat anything and everything deep fried that is  oh so unhealthy, but oh so yummy! From Carnival rides, food and animals to exhibitions - the fair has it all. My favorite is the home and garden building with the unbelievable displays.
