The 2012 Orange International Street Fair

Once again it's time for the Orange International Street Fair. Running Labor Day Weekend, from Friday August 31 through Sunday, September 2, 2012 you will NOT be disappointed! This is a free event to attend, parking is not free and you will have to scout for a spot!

The street fair is located in the Orange Circle, in Orange California and has been here for over 40 years. Here is helpful information:

  • A map and event guide to help you preplan your visit!
  • An entertainment schedule and map to the event.
  • Friday entertainment lineup.
  • Saturday entertainment lineup.
  • Sunday entertainment lineup.
  • There are arts & crafts booths, community information booths, entertainment stages spread throughout, and of course, plenty of international food for all. That is the best part! For a breakdown, go here.
  • There is beer and alcohol available! See the time schedule.
My family loves this event! I will have to pass this year since my daughter is not home, it would feel like a betrayal to go without her!

Discounted Disney Tickets 2012

If you want to save some money on a trip to Disneyland, and don't mind going on a day that the park is overflowing with goth enthusiasts, then Bat Day is for you. This year's convention runs May 16-29, 2012, and you can buy group tickets at their rate by purchasing online through the previous link. Please keep in mind that the park is not reserved for this event, it is just an annual event opportunity for people to express themselves in the way they feel most comfortable, no matter how odd the rest of us might think it is. My sister accidently visited the park on this day a couple of years ago with her grandchildren, and they were terrified. But if you go, knowing in advance what to expect, you will just be able to enjoy your day and perhaps learn that underneath all that creative dressing is a person who also just wants to have fun!

A one day park hopper ticket normally costs $105.00, but through this link you can purchase them for $91.00. That's a 13% savings!

Other discounts available on the Disney Website include:

  • Souther California resident discount.  From now through June 1, 2012, buy a 2-Day, 1-Park per Day Disneyland Resort ticket for just $99 and pick which park you want to visit each day! The only drawback is you can only visit one park per day, you can't hop back and forth. You might also want to check which rides are closed for maintenance during this time period so that you are not dissappointed when you arrive.
  • Military Discount.  Buy a 3-Day Park Hopper ticket for just $99 each, through September 28, 2012. That's a savings of 55%* off the ticket booth price!
  • 3-Day Park Hopper tickets may be purchased at participating U.S. military sales outlets by any eligible U.S. military personnel or their spouse for just $99. There is a 6 ticket limit during any single week of the promotion. No more than 12 tickets may be purchased, activated and/or used by any eligible U.S. military personnel or spouse during the life of this promotion.

Craig's List. Check with companies that buy 2 & 3 day passes but sell them as individual tickets. It's worth a try, right?

To save more money on your visit, pack some food, water and snacks or take a cooler in your car and leave the park to have your own personal tailgate party. Who says a trip to the Magic Kingdom has to break the bank?!

Free Books or Music on iTunes

Stop by any Starbucks, and they will usually have an offer for  free music or free book downloads to iTunes that you can load onto your iPhone, iPod or iPad.

There are usually business card sized offers at the front counter that you can grab to use. Each card has a code printed at the bottom and an expiration date.

The current  pick of the week book offering is the "Best in Travel 2012" . I will definitely be downloading this book to see what travel tips I can find!

Golden Globe Award 2012

The 2012 Golden Globes Awards are Sunday, January 15, 2012. Who do you think will win? For a complete list of the nominations, visit HERE.

Tune in 8pm Eastern, and 5pm Pacific time to see the live HD broadcast. I know we are all sitting on pins and needles to see just what will happen and what Ricky Gervais will say this year to cause an uproar. And watching the arrival of the guests in all their finery (or rather designer's finery) is always a crowd favorite. Hopefully the California weather will only dampen their feet and not their spirits, as we have a forecast for some moisture!

I don't get to the movies that often, but I have seen at least one film in each of the categories except foreign language. I saw "The Help" and "War Horse" in the Best Motion Picture Drama category: "Bridesmaids" in the Comedy/Musical category: and "Rango" in the Animated category.

If you click at the bottom of the website page you can enter to win an official Golden Globes Gift Bag! That would certainly be exciting! Of course I entered, who knows? Here's the facebook LINK.

Enjoy the show!

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2012 - CELEBRATE!!

I can't believe that tomorrow is the last full day of 2011! Time has been zooming by.

To get ready to celebrate, I used a "$10.00 off $75.00 purchase" coupon at BevMo! that they emailed to me to woo me back (I don't shop there that often, but having loyalty cards does have it's benefits!). I purchased some cheer in a bottle for the New Year Eve Festvities, and a very beautiful bottle I might add. I heard about a beer-champagne made by Samuel Adams call "Infinium" that they only make once a year, so I was very pleased that they had some instore. I picked up 4 bottles at $19.99, so I went slightly over the 75.00 requirement and then totally blew it by buying a small bottle of Baileys' as a stocking stuffer. I gave three bottles as gifts and have kept one for myself. Usually, to maximize coupons, I buy only the bare minimum needed to make the coupon valid, but heck, it's the holidays so I splurged!

I am very anxious to try this "Champagne-like beer with fine bubbles and a fruity, spicy aroma" as the label suggests. The tag also says that this "groundbreaking beer unites European brewing heritage with American innovation. Our brewers worked for two years with the world's oldest brewery, Germany's Weinhenstephan, to create a unique new beer style. They explored innovative brewing techniques but always remained true to the Rhenheitsgebot, a revered 1516 German beer purity law."

So in honor of my German heritage, and buying "American" I am excited to Ring in the New Year with a new beverage!

Happy 2012 to all!!!
