Free Sundae for Veteran's at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlors

Farrell’s Salutes Military Men and Women With a Free Sundae Nov. 9-13, 2015!

Farrell's limited edition “Thank You Sundae” is back! In observance of Veterans Day, Farrell’s is saying “Thank You” all week to those who bravely serve in the armed forces by treating these brave men and women to a free all-American, Farrell's Red White and Blue Thank You Sundae!

Starting November 9th through the 13th, any Military personnel, past or present, who show their valid Military I.D. will receive this deliciously patriotic treat. 

Their “Red, White, and Blue Thank You Sundae” is layered with deliciousness like our Grand Ol’ Flag is layered with Stars and Stripes. It has 2-scoops of vanilla ice cream, red strawberries and blue …well…berries, a cherry, and a tiny American flag waving boldly atop a heroic mountain of whipped cream.  

Military personnel need only to stop in to their local Farrell's in Brea Downtown, Buena Park, Mission Viejo, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Sacramento or Santa Clarita to accept their delicious “Thank You” treat.  

Non-military guests may also purchase the Sundae for $7.95.

There is no purchase necessary for our Military men and women, for dine-in only, and cannot be combined with any other specials or offers. Acceptable ID's include a U.S. Uniform Services ID Card (active/reserve/retired), Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), Photograph of yourself in uniform, Veterans Organizations Card (e.g., American Legion and VFW), DD214 or discharge paperwork. HDTV For Free - or Cutting the Cord

I didn't know what to expect when I decided to try an HD Antenna at a rural home in the middle of a corn field in Ohio. But one thing was for sure, I was NOT going to pay for Direct TV at $69.00 a month at a home that we were only going to be at for a short time! I also did not want to be locked into a one or two year contract. So this is what I did...

Before I left for our trip I ordered the antenna and had it shipped to my destination. It was the:

Winegard Flatwave Non-Amplified HDTV Indoor Antenna FL5050C from Costco at a one time expense of $29.99 + tax. It has an Ultra Thin Clear Design, and includes a 15' Coaxial Cable. It was very easy to install. I attached the coaxial cable to the "antenna in" spot on the back of my tv, and placed the antenna which looks like a square placemat in the window and secured it with double stick tape that came in the box. Next I turned the tv on, searched the menu for a scan channel button and managed to pick up 22 stations on my first try! It can pick up HD signals up to 35 miles away.

I was able to get ABC, CBS, NBC and several others. So if you are looking for an alternative to expensive cable or satellite tv bills, you might just want to give this handy contraption a try!  They have a beefier model that can pick up stations up to 60 miles away. 

I got mine at COSTCO, but there seems to be a run on them right now and they are currently out of stock. But I am sure that they can  be found online or at a local store such as Best Buy or Walmart.

So the lesson  here?  If you are not a huge tv junky, cut the cord and get a HDTV antenna and watch tv for free!

CVS Extra Care Loyalty Card

If you don't have a CVS Extra Care Loyalty card, what are you waiting for?  I don't shop there that regularly, but between the 3 members of my family, I am sure that someone may stop in from time to time.

Once a week or so you will get an email with specials, promotions and discounts.  The best part is that you don't have to print the coupon, you can just elect to have it sent to your card electronically. That way, any member of your family who is shopping will automatically benefit.  I love this option!

If you have prescriptions filled here, or if you already shop here, then you may already know that you can earn ExtraBucks rewards to use as cash on purchases.  I say sign up wherever possible and use the savings available to you. Sometimes it's just nice to use those free rewards, coupons and discounts for something fun, like nail polish, gifts for your kids or grandkids, or treats for your pet!

Free Einstein Bros Bagels "Bagel Topper"

I signed up for their e-club about a year ago. Every once in a while I get an email with a coupon to try out one of their new taste offerings.  The last one I got was for their wonderful Bagel Toppers.  I think I only had to buy a cup of coffee and the bagel was free.  My "Berry Goodness" bagel was to die for! It featured a fresh bagel topped with Fresh Strawberries, Strawberry Shmear, Granola and Honey. It was so filling that it kept me full until past lunchtime! May is National Military Appreciation Month, and to celebrate Farrell's is honoring brave servicemen and servicewomen by treating them to a deliciously all-American, Red, White and Blue Thank You Sundae! 

You read that right, it’s free to all past and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces. You’ll have to hurry, this limited edition sundae is only available during the month of May and, again for Veteran’s Day.

The sundae is made with 2-scoops of vanilla ice cream, strawberry and blueberry compote, whipped cream, a cherry, and Ol' Glory, herself, on top (of course).  Through the entire month of May, and U.S. military personnel, past or present, who show their valid Military I.D. will receive "Thank You" Sundae at Farrell’s in Brea Downtown, Buena Park, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Mission Viejo, Sacramento, Santa Clarita, or Honolulu.

Not in the military, but still want in on this delicious bit of Americana? Don’t worry! Civilians may also purchase this limited edition Thank You Sundae for $7.99 with one dollar from each purchase going to the A Million Thanks organization, a 501c3 non-profit military support charity.
