Generating Income from your Closet!

So I have been actively selling clothing from my daughter's closet on POSHMARK since December.  Although some people might use this as a way for primary income, I have found that it is a nice way to earn a little extra money now and then!

If you are looking for a "get rich quick" option, those don't exist!  For me at least, I want to present myself in the best light  possible, so this is what I do before I list an item for sale online. It is quite time consuming.

1. Machine or hand wash each item.
2. Iron or steam each clothing item.
3.Take a front, back, detail and clothing label photo of each item.
4. Research the app to see if there are any similar items already for sale. Read the descriptions and compare listing prices.
5. Post the items for sale.
6. Re-share the item during theme appropriate parties to reach the maximum amount of potential buyers.

It is kind of exciting to make a sale & ship it off.  I don't mind spending a lot of time on the computer, so for now I will continue to try and sell clothing online this way.

If you think that this is something that you would like to try, sign up using code NKLQC for $5.00 credit!

Generating Income from your Closet!

I was faced with the dilemma of what to do with extra clothes in my daughter's closet when she moved away from home. I wanted to find a way to generate some extra money for her new adult living expenses, and since my neighborhood doesn't allow garage or yard sales I turned to the internet for research.

While I found a lot of online options, there were definitely different factors to consider. I researched quite a few, but I ultimately decided on POSHMARK - You can access this website via your computer, sign up & buy items, but if you want to become an active seller you will need to download their app. It is very user friendly, and you can quickly set up your closet and list items for sale. Although it was primarily set up to sell women's clothing and accessories, I have come across children's and men's clothing, pet accessories and housewares!

Because it is a very social media site, I have been learning that it is very important to be active on the site, gain a lot of followers, follow a lot of people and participate in the many online themed "parties" that are hosted daily. My closet is relatively small, but after several months I have sold several items. It is my understanding that if I can get to 4000 followers, that that is a good basis number to help me start gaining new sales!

If you are wondering how it works, a potential buyer can buy your item or make an offer, that you can accept, reject or counter. If the sale is mutual, the company will email you a prepaid shipping label, you package it up and put it into the mail! If you sell your item for over $15.00 you keep 80%. If it sells below, they subtract a $2.95 fee and you keep the balance.

If you decide to sign up, please use this CODE NKLQC and you will receive an instant $5.00 credit to apply against a purchase! If you would like to see my closet, you can visit it HERE.

Happy selling!

Turn Clutter Into Cash?

Is is possible to turn clutter into cash without leaving your home? I sure hope so, because I need to get rid of some stuff and a little extra cash flow would be amazing!

There are a lot of websites that  broker or promote for you. Of course this means that they will take a percentage, but heck, if it's sitting there not making any money, it's certainly not doing you any good!

For clothing, you can try websites such as thredup.com. After you register with them, they send you a bag to fill, you send them your clothes and they send you $$. Here is their website descriptioin:

"thredUP is the easiest way to save on great clothing brands and hand down clothing your family no longer wears for cash. We're like a consignment boutique - but simpler. On thredUP you can refresh your family's entire wardrobe online, without ever leaving your house.
Here's how it works:
SHOP: Browse thousands of like-new clothing items, which we've hand-selected and certified for quality. You'll find all your favorite brands discounted up to 80% off year-round. Shop »
CLEAN OUT: When your family has clothing they no longer wear (kids, juniors and women's), simply fill up a thredUP bag and put it on your doorstep. thredUP covers the shipping, and pays you for every item we can hand down to other families."
Other clothing sites are, threadflip.com, copius.com, poshmark.com and etsy.com.
If you are trying to sell furniture items, check out Charish.com. It is a virtual showroom for your used furniture. Once is sells, they send shippers to your door to take it away! It is also a great place to look for just the right thing you've always wanted!

If Musical Instruments are cluttering your home, check out usedinstrumentbuyer.com. Perhaps Johnny's tuba lessons didn't work out, so now you have somewhere to try and sell that!

Even cell phones can bring in extra cash. Look for an ecoATM. It's a kiosk that actually gives you cash on the spot for your cell phones.

Good luck selling your treasures!
