Jar Jar Binks Or The Spastic Adventures Of A Star Wars Misfit

I was feeling a little left out on the Premier Opening Day of Star Wars, the Force Awakens, so I put together this silly video of Jar Jar Binks.  I hope that you enjoy my craziness! and if you saw the new movie already, kudos to you! I will have to wait a couple of weeks so that my husband and I can take our time and bypass crowds!

May the Force be With You!

Save Money at the Movies!

Going to the movies is fun, but it can be expensive. If you are a member of AARP, Regal Entertainment Group wants to sell you movie snacks at a discount!  Present your AARP card at any Regal, United Artists or Edwards movie theater concession stand and get a 32 ounce drink and a 64 ounce popcorn for $5.50.

Specials for everyone are: $2.00 candy on Mondays and $2.00 popcorn on Tuesdays. And don't forget that you can receive one free refill with the purchase of a large soft drink and/or a large popcorn on the same day of purchase!

If you are not already a member, join the Regal Crown Club for rewards. Swipe your card every time you go to the movies or buy concessions and be surprised at the rewards. I don't go that often, but on my last visit I got a coupon for $2.00 off of a box of candy and one free admission ticket! Now that's exciting!

Last but not least, you can buy discounted movie passes in advance at COSTO, AAA and online from Regal's online shop. I use them in the evenings since movies are more expensive then. And don't forget to get a senior's discount if you are 66 or older when you purchase your ticket!

Save $$ at the Movies

We all want to see the latest blockbuster movie sensation, but sometimes it is just so expensive!  Here are some ways to help you save at the movies.
  1. If you have a AAA membership, you can save up to 40% on the ticket price by buying tickets in advance at your local AAA office.
  2. If you have a COSTCO membership, you can also buy tickets in advance at their warehouse locations at a deep savings.
  3. Try a discount ticket site such as BulkTix.com  where you can buy tickets in four packs, or snack packs that also include food or soda vouchers.
  4. Daily deal sites such as Groupon and Living Social sometimes offer discount movie packages or 2 for 1 deals. Subscribe for free and save.
  5. Check out opportunities for free summer screenings of old and new movies around your neighborhood. Libraries, Parks, Art Centers, Home Owners Associations and even some movies theaters offer these throughout the summer.
  6. Some malls offer free or heavily discounted movies during the days, check their marquees and websites.
  7. Get a loyalty card with your local theater. Every time you go have them swipe your card at the box office  you can earn discounts and rewards for snacks and sodas!
  8. Rent a movie from Redbox and enjoy your family and snacks at home!
Who says you have to spend a lot to experience a lot?

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. I know that this is a really strange title, but I just saw a screening of this film which will open in theatres in limited release starting March 9, 2012.

This is a British-made film that debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September of 2011.

It was directed by Lasse Hallström, who also directed:

Dear John (2010)
Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)
Chocolat (2000)
The Cider House Rules (1999)

It is wonderfully acted by Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, Kristen Scott Thomas and Amr Waked. The cinematography is beautiful and there is a wonderful blend of romance, comedy and storytelling. You won't be disappointed!

The plot is a beguiling tale of fly-fishing and political spinning, of unexpected heroism and late-blooming love and   of an attempt to prove the impossible, possible when a sheik is determined to bring his beloved sport of fishing to the the desert of Yemen.

By the way, screenings are a great way to see movies for free! This is my second screening, and I hope to do more.
