Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. I know that this is a really strange title, but I just saw a screening of this film which will open in theatres in limited release starting March 9, 2012.

This is a British-made film that debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September of 2011.

It was directed by Lasse Hallström, who also directed:

Dear John (2010)
Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)
Chocolat (2000)
The Cider House Rules (1999)

It is wonderfully acted by Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, Kristen Scott Thomas and Amr Waked. The cinematography is beautiful and there is a wonderful blend of romance, comedy and storytelling. You won't be disappointed!

The plot is a beguiling tale of fly-fishing and political spinning, of unexpected heroism and late-blooming love and   of an attempt to prove the impossible, possible when a sheik is determined to bring his beloved sport of fishing to the the desert of Yemen.

By the way, screenings are a great way to see movies for free! This is my second screening, and I hope to do more.

Ta ta for now...save money!
