Freebies on Your Birthday!

I have posted about this before, but in case you  missed it, it's always worth revisiting!

I am reminded about all the wonderful things you can get for free on your birthday when my birthday rolls around! So far I have enjoyed my free Starbucks coffee and my free Bruegger's Bagel!

Starbucks Veranda Blonde Roast

I took advantage of  tasting  the new Veranda Blonde coffee at Starbucks, just after it's debut, using my special mug I got for Christmas that entitles me to free coffee until January 31. I have to admit, I am more of a dark roast person and I don't foresee myself ordering this brew.

The big hype in the store is that is has more caffeine that the other brews. I prefer taste to a super buzz. I am not studying for finals or taking a 10 hour drive somewhere. They have no-doze for that! 

I am sure that this will be a favorite for a lot of people, new coffee drinkers, lightweights, tea- totelers! Just give me a robust flavor and I am happy.


You should still be able to partake in the free taste from January 12 until January 14th. I hope you enjoy the new brew. I am sure you will draw your own conclusions!

Earth Day

Well today is Earth Day! A day to broaden our knowledge about the environment and to participate in ways to protect and defend it. You can't really solve a problem until you acknowledge that there is one, so I urge everyone to take some time to become aware of their world around them and to find some way to participate in preserving it. 

Here are some of the small ways I try to help with the environment:

• Recycling paper, plastic and glass
• Bringing my own shopping bags to the store
• Carpooling
• Buying used clothing at thrift and vintage stores
• Replacing home lighting with CFL and other led and low voltage light bulbs
• Saving electricity by turning off lights when not in rooms
• Using my coffee grounds in my garden
• Eating and buying more local food from farmer's markets

Pyrrha Jewelry Creations

If you are not familiar with Pyrrha jewelry, it is symbolic and very beautiful. Each piece is re-created from an original 19th century wax seal.  The jewelers are from Vancouver, Canada and their designs are sold around the world and worn by various celebrities and many others who appreciate their beauty. They give a brief description of each seal and what it represents which allows you to buy a piece perfectly suited to an occasion.

Free Purina Pet Food Samples

Did you know that you could get a free sample of Purina Cat and Dog food on the Target website.  I ordered the cat sample a couple of weeks ago and just now ordered the dog sample. I didn't realize that you could order one of each.  All you have to do is select the product, take a short survey and enter your shipping information. The product should arrive in 4 to 6 weeks!
