Ride the Palm Springs Tram. If you ride after 4pm, and purchase the "Ride"N"Dine package, you get a cafeteria style meal at the Pines Cafe and the tram ride up. THat's only $12.05 more that the regular ticket. Senior also have a special rate to ride the tram. Here are other activities available to you.
You should also check sites like Groupon or Living Social to see what Palm Springs or desert community specific discounts they have available.
