When you need to rent a car, do it far enough in advance to lock in a good rate. Also check to see if your credit card company gives you an additional discount for using their card when booking. If you bundle a car rental with your hotel or airfare, you can also save money.
Another way to save money is to check back a few days before you actually pick your car up to see if there is a better rate available. You can actually modify your reservation and get the same car for less! Who Knew!
