I took advantage of the 50% off of a Glen Ivy Spa admission as part of their "Mudder's Day" special. Every Wednesday during the month of May they were offering 1/2 off one admission, with one full paid admission for mothers and daughters. As Wednesday was the last Wednesday in May I leapt at the opportunity!
They have three locations, but we went to the Spa in Corona, Ca. We got a late start since I had to work in the morning, but it really didn't matter. Actually it paid off as it turned out to be a very busy day there. Apparently everyone had the same idea!
After checking in we headed to the Lady's lounge to get a locker and store our stuff. It is a beautiful and very spacious area with lots of lockers, showers, toilets, a steam room and an indoor Roman Spa. Since we hadn't had lunch yet and it was after 1 pm, we decided eating would be a good idea. The Café Solé Restaurant was extremely busy, so we opted to sit at the counter of Sunflower Sushi and dine from their wonderfully fresh and healthy Sushi Menu. After this filling, but light meal we headed to the mineral baths to start our spa day. We waited about 10 minutes for our chance to soak in the mineral baths which hover at a 104° in temperature. The smell is similar to rotting eggs, but the experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. When we felt our pores were adequately open we headed over to Club Mud and began our mud adventure. We started in the warm water pool and covered our upper torsos and faces with the red clay mud. Then we moved over to another mud area to slap and smooth mud onto our legs. Red clay has been used as a purifying agent since ancient times. It draws from the pores, absorbs impurities, and releases waste and dead skin cells while tightening and revitalizing the skin. We then dried out in the sun and spent about 5 minutes in the Wafa, a special drying chamber.
After the mud dried, it became loose and powdery and we simply brushed off most of it. This action in itself was a great exfoliating and invigorating experience. The final step was showering off the remaining mud using Glen Ivy’s lavender scented Soothing Body Cleansing Gel. My skin felt so soft and I felt totally relaxed!
They have so much to do there and we only skimmed the surface. I can't wait to have another opportunity to go back. There are lap pools, swimming pools, and massage services that you can also take advantage of.
Oh and when you are done, don't pass up the opportunity to stop at Tom's Farms on your way out. We loaded up on dried fruits, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh baked french bread, cheese, fudge and fresh popped kettle corn! We just had to make the insides of our bodies as happy as the outside!
Ta Ta for now...
Take a nice spa brush with you to brush off that dried mud!
