Amber Lyn Sugar Free Chocolates!

I try very hard to never pay full price for any of my purchases.  If I can't find a coupon, I hope that the vendor at least participates with one of the shopping portals such as Upromise or AAdvantage Shopping.

It was time to order some more Sugar Free Chocolates that I had sampled and purchased at Costco a while back. My husband is diabetic and loves sweets, so these were a good fit. They offer sugar free, no sugar added and gluten free products. With my first purchase I went through the American Diabetes Wholesale website and found a good price there, then signed up for an email account which got me another discount.

This time, I decided to buy direct from the manufacturer, Amber Lyn Chocolates

For this week only, they are offering 15% off of their Bites! Just use the promo code "TakeABite" to activate the offer. You will have to join their Cravers Club which is  free with an email sign up. Here is just one of the benefits- "Free Item With First Purchase! That's right, when you use your 15% off coupon code (which will be emailed after sign up) you will also receive a free item with your purchase!"

So just put your patience hat on when you shop online. If you try the regular sources for discounts and coupons such as RetailMeNot, Brads Deals or Coupon Mom and you come up short, there's always a pretty good chance the manufacturer will give you a coupon for just giving them your email (you can always unsubscribe later).

My method of payment is my credit card that offers me money back on every purchase. So from beginning to end I am always trying to maximize my savings on everything I buy!

Turkey for Two

This Thanksgiving was very different from any we have had in the past. My husband is just two weeks past his hip replacement surgery, so he is unable to travel comfortably. We were also not up for hosting a  houseful of up to over 12 family members, as we have for so many years in the past, due to his bed being downstairs now and him just not being up for that much activity.

Our daughter goes to college in Chicago, and only has a few days off, so she was off to Ohio to spend it with relatives there as she did last year! So it was just us, and it felt like a date!

Besides it being a glorious California day, the meal was a huge success. I opted for a 3 1/2 pound turkey breast instead of a whole turkey for several reasons. All meat with no bone, faster cooking, and healthier choices being most of those reasons! My husband is diabetic, so he is taking an active role in trying to eat better and make better dining choices. I think on a whole we did pretty well. Who says you can't enjoy the meal and still make healthier choices that you won't feel too guilty about.

This was  our menu:
  • Turkey Breast, herb seasoned and baked.
  • Stuffing (ok, so too many carbs, but hey it's Thanksgiving after all!)
  • Brussels Sprouts steamed
  • Candied Carrots (with splenda)
  • Yams (one simply baked, one candied)
  • Crescent Rolls (light)
  • Gewurtztraminer wine (me only, and believe me I enjoyed several glasses!)
  • Sparkling water
  • Pumpkin Cheesecake, no sugar, low fat.
Yes, I bought myself flowers for the occasion! I knew my husband would have if he was able, so what's a girl to do?!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and tasty Thanksgiving.

Enjoy Silk Almond Milk with a discount

Click here for a coupon for .55 cents off of  Silk PureAlmond Milk in a half gallon, quart or 4 pack of single serves! Did you know that Almond milk has 50% more calcium than regular milk?

My husband has diabetes and has discovered that drinking Almond Milk also has less sugar than regular milk. It's nice to find alternatives to the things you love, but just shouldn't have!
