Keep Your Cheese Fresher Longer!

Another way to save money is to keep foods fresher longer!  Were you aware that if you stored opened cheese in aluminum foil in your fridge it will stay fresher longer? I have always placed mine in a baggy and sooner or later the green stuff starts to grow!

Cheese is also best stored in the refrigerator as close to the bottom  as possible, where it can stay coolest.  Vegetable compartments are ideal. Wrap it in aluminum foil or waxed paper (waxed paper being the best of the two). The cheese will be able to breathe and further develop without drying out. 

 

The harder the cheese, the longer it will stay fresh and Semi-soft cheeses will usually be fine for several weeks. Freezing cheese is not recommended!

Wine & Ride

Today was an absolutely wonderful day to kickstart the holidays with a Ladies "Wine and Ride" at Hoofhaven Farms. And just exactly what is this do you ask? This was a chance for a group of ladies to get together, ride horses and then unwind by drinking wine and snacking on cheese, crackers, fruit, veggies and of course some brownies! We had riders from beginners, to experienced enjoying the gorgeous 85 + degree weather that got sent our way. There was no particular riding plan, just ride and visit, laugh and tease! We rode on the front of the ranch, then crossed the creek to the backside of the ranch. We rode in two riding rings and up inclines! It was great fun!

The best part is that I invited my childhood friend who I haven't seen in over 6 years and that in itself was like a breath of fresh air. Sugi is one of the most outgoing and life embracing people I know. Even though there may be huge gaps in our visits, once together it's as if it were just yesterday. We caught each other up on our family and children, spouses and jobs. I found the conversation exhilarating and the company exceptional. Thank you Lord for such a glorious day! Ta Ta for now...
